The Tailed Poem

We can't get along with each other, sweetheart
Our ways are apart
You're the butcher's cat
I'm an alley cat
Your food is in a tin
Mine in a lion's mouth
You dream of love
I dream of a bone
But mate, your life is not easy, either
Actually not easy
To wag the tail  like this
Day in, day out!

Hello Sihirli:
What a perfect picture to illustrate this poem. The feral and the house cat, two often very different lives. But yes, what a wonderful question the poem poses, for whom is life best?

Welcome Jane and Lance... I guess, the poet personates cats here to express his own statement with his girlfriend. He speaks to her by using the poem and gives point to the class distinction between them.
And as you say, the main question suggested in the poem may be "Whose life is better?" or "The rich one has really the better life?"
Well, I personally believe that every type of life has specific beauty and difficulties.

Bir kedi, kasabın kedisine aşık olmadan önce çok iyi düşünmelidir. ( Evet kediler de düşünebilir, hatta şiir bile yazabilirler. ehi. )

Gabi, şiirdeki sokak kedisinin Nazım Hikmet olduğunu söylüyorlar. Oldukça anlamlı bir şiir gerçekten.

This is a wonderful poem about anyones relationship. It shows how we are all different, how we view each others differences too.

Thanks amigo... This poem tells about the differences between the poor and the rich, also the communist and the capitalist:) As you say, it emphasizes that such differences inhibit relationships...
Hope to read your comment again in the future.
