The Third Person

Invitations, rooms
And lodges are for two.
You go either alone on a seat
Or tickets are for two.

A bed is either for oneman
Or it can't be slept alone, it's for two.
A love is either one-sided,
If she loves too, then it's for two.

No matter how many different people you love,
A love is just for two.
Above all, in a a private evening,
Tables are always for two.

"Well then, who are you?" they asked me.
"The third person" I said.
"Well, is there friendship in the world?"
"The world is for two" I said.
Whereas we were children and plenty,
For now, I'm very sad.

Hello Sihirli:
And we too find ourselves sad at the end of the poem. For it is so true that in so many instances, and too often, the world appears to be just for two. What, indeed, of the outsider, the third person?

Thankyou, Sihirli. Maybe the third person meets someone esle who is also a third person.

Welcome Jane and Lance... In fact the world is unfortunately not a very pleasant place for the outsider, until she/he meets a suitable partner and gets rid of being "the outsider". Thanks for your visit and comment which make me really happy:)

Gardener, your comment made me laugh:))) Yes, let's hope that the third person meets another "third person" and gets rid of being "the third person" someday...
